We Like 'Em Short

We are thrilled to announce that Hatboxes has been accepted into the We Like 'Em Short Film Festival!

The Festival takes place 15–18 August 2013 in  Baker City, Oregon, a Powder River town between the between the Wallowa Mountains and the Elkhorn Mountains in the eastern part of the state.

The program has not been released yet, but it's sure to be an intriguing one.  Let us know if you'll be making your way there!

  1. Dear Hatboxes, congrats on being selected! As those in the know say - "being selected means you're entitled to grin, cuz only one person can actually win!" But seriously folks, how often do you get to see relationships happen on-screen without melodrama? Without screaming, fucking someone else to get even (doh!), cruelty, swelling strings...you get my drift. In this world of - 24/7, blaring 'look at me!' - it's great to see some adult personal interaction hit the e-rectangle. You'll enjoy watching Darwin's milliner eat up the camera. She channels angst, subtly. If you're a Chicago local, you'll enjoy seeing another 'burb in that cosmopolitan, mid-Western city on film. If you're gay, welcome to seeing your part of the world shown without the usual, boring reversion to stereotypes. If you're sick of hearing about Rupert and the UK (just book'im Danno!), watch Hatboxes to feel like there are still grown-ups left in the world, they just don't own Fox.
